16 COUNTRIES TO PARTAKE AT CALABAR CARNIVAL 2015

Africa’s annual largest street party, Calabar Carnival returns with a bang as Cross River State Governor, Prof Ben Ayade unveiled ‘Climate change’ as the theme for the 2015 edition of the event recently. Ayade unveiled the theme at a well-attended and electrifying concert held at Oriental Hotels, Lagos where singer, Iyanya was officially named as the state’s ambassador.

Created in 2004 by ex-Governor Donald Duke, the carnival is an annual month-long event that brings tourists from all over the world to Cross River State. The Governor explained that the theme was carefully selected to reflect current global realities with a view to drawing attention to the needed action against climate change and its negative impacts.

‘We present a theme that represents the true challenge of the world today as we celebrate this year’s event’
he said. He further added that,
‘we are internationalizing the carnival and for the first time we are bringing in 16 countries that will be participating in the carnival this year’.
