Councillors in Igbo-etiti Local Government Area, Enugu State, have called on Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, to probe the outgoing chairman of the council, Chief Festus Ozoemena over alleged embezzlement of N400m road project fund.

The councillors, who pleaded for anonymity, said, that the legislative arms of the council had on two occasions approved the said amount for the construction of Ukehe, Ogbede,Ohebe, Aku and Nkpologwu road, but the chairman abandoned it while the contract sum was paid in full.

The councillors also accused the leader of the council legislative arm for conniving with the council boss to embezzle council funds, explaining that in the first phase of the road project, the sum of N150m was approved as mobilization, later N250m as full payment while the project was not up to 50 per cent executed.
