CHRIST EMBASSY GUTTED BY FIRE, PROPERTIES DESTROYED

Reports say fire has brought down a section of Christ Embassy Church on Oregun Road, Ikeja, Lagos.

According to The Punch, the fire started at about 9pm on Wednesday, January 14, from an electrical spark in the switch room of the church. But for the swift response by officials of the Lagos State Fire Service and some church workers, the damage may have been worse.

An official of the fire fighters said:

Around 9.08pm on Wednesday, we got a call that there was a fire incident in the church. We deployed two 10,000 litres of water from our stations in Ikeja and Alausa. It was discovered that the fire was on the topmost floor of the church’s three-storey building.
There had been an electrical spark in the switch room, which triggered off the fire. In about 30 minutes, we put it out.

GOODLUCK JONATHAN BECOMES A GRANDFATHER

On January 11, Jonathan’s adopted daughter, Inebharapu Paul, welcomed her first child with husband Simeon Onyemaechi at Memorial Hospital West, in Pembroke pines Miami, Florida.

Their son has been named Kachiside Onyemachi what means “The way God has written it”.

DAMMYKRANE AND WIZKID FIGHT AT CLUB QUILOX

The beef between African pop superstar Wizkid, 25, and Dammy Krane, 23, turned violent in the early hours of today (January 15) at Club Quilox.
Nigerian footballer Obafemi Martins held a party at the popular night club located in Victoria Island, and as expected a lot of celebrities and music stars showed up including Dammy Krane who recently attacked Wizkid on Twitter for allegedly stealing some of his ideas from him.

At around 4a.m, sources said Star Boy singer Wizkid showed up at Quilox. According to an eye witness who spoke to NET “When Wizkid entered the club, it seemed he saw Dammy Krane but didn’t go to meet him, then about 15 minutes later, it seemed Dammy was showing him some attitude, then Wizkid went to meet him. Wiz threw his cup at Dammy Krane that resulted in a bust lip. Dammy Krane had to be restrained by 3 people to stop him from retaliating. Read below:

Dammy Krane voicing out his anger on twitter claimed that Wizkid stole his music several time and is trying to intimidate him and he is not going to let that happen. He also added that, he is ready to drag the Star Boy music artist to the streets but people had to beg him to calm down.

After signing their peace accord papers on Wednesday, January 6, between the families of David Adeleke and Dele Momodu over Davido’s custody of his daughter, Imade Adeleke, more facts emerge about his baby mama Sophie Momodu.

Davido who made this revelation to officials of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), at Ikeja, Lagos during his visit to the agency to answer the petition brought against him by his estranged Baby mama.

According to The Whistle, Davido revealed that his Baby Mama was having sexual relations with his father’s friend, Dr Deji Adeleke who is based in Dubai. He alleged that although he was aware of her sexual escapades but was blinded by love.

Addressing the issue of her being a liar, Davido further disclosed that Sophia Momodu lied about being two years older before he discovered she was six years older. Adding that, she was not a graduate as she has claimed earlier.

PYTHON BITES WOMAN'S NOSE AT SNAKE SHOW

A young woman bitten on the face during a snake charming show at an animal park near the Phuket Zoo, Thailand.

Jin Jing got the shock of her life after a reticulated python bit her on the nose when she tried to plant a kiss on its head. The terrifying moment was caught on camera and later posted online.

A footage shows two men holding the snake and Chinese woman leaning in to kiss it, when suddenly the reptile gets mad and attacks its victim at lightning speed.

Next moment a terrified tourist tries to set herself free from the python’s jaws with the help of the snake handlers, while the onlookers are heard screaming. Ms Jin Jing was rushed to a local hospital to receive treatment for minor cuts and bruises to her nose.

The incident reportedly happened on January 9, leaving the woman with five stitches on her nose. According to local media reports, Ms Jing reportedly received £2,200 compensation from the company for “her medical bills, pain and stress”.

The reticulated python is the world’s longest snake, which is found in Southeast Asia. Like all pythons, they are nonvenomous constrictors and normally not considered dangerous to humans.

Although large specimens are powerful enough to kill an adult human, attacks are only occasionally reported.

HOW CRUEL? BABY DUMPED WITH SUPER-GLUED MOUTH IN THE BUSH

A month-old baby has been found near a bush with her lips sealed with super glue. According to Modern Ghana, the baby girl was wrapped in a cloth and dumped in the bush near the Serwah Kese Senior High School at Duayaw Nkwanta in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana.

The baby was discovered by some residents around the school at about 6:20am Sunday, January 10 with her mouth sealed with super glue. A staff from the Duayaw Nkwanta Department of Social Welfare have taken the baby to the St Johns of God hospital in Duayaw Nkwanta for treatment.

Investigations are on to identify the mother of the baby.

IS PASTOR ADEBOYE DYING SOON? SEE WHAT HE SAID

The annual Holy Ghost Congress of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) ended with cold biblical references by the General Overseer, Pastor E.A Adeboye about death which left his audience in cold shock.

Millions of worshipers, at the weekend grand finale of the annual Holy Ghost Congress of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), roared in disapproval as the General Overseer of the ministry, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, hinted at his possible passing, reports the Nigerian Tribune.

The one-week programme ended on Saturday, with a three-in-one service, comprising anointing, communion and impartation. Ministering on the transfer of anointing, Adeboye said he would not be too young at 73 to go back to his creator. He would be 74 next March.

He was explaining why the transferred anointing is always more potent than the index case, using Moses and Elijah as examples. Using the scripture, Adeboye added that where Moses, who got anointing fire directly from God failed, Joshua, who got his fire from Moses, succeeded.

He also pointed out that while Elijah, who got his anointing directly from God performed only seven miracles, Elisha, who got his anointing from Elijah when God was taking him away, performed 14 miracles. Adeboye equally explained that the beneficiaries got the transferred anointing when their masters were about passing away.

He said he would anoint his wife and other very senior pastors who, in turn, would anoint other pastors, from where the worshipers would experience their own anointing fire.

After the explanation, he looked at the congregation and said

you may be wondering if I am about to go. Will it be too early for a 73-year-old man to die? If I go now, who will say it is too early?

At this point, the worshipers, who were at the beginning rejecting his passing in a murmur, roared their disapproval loudly from all the four corners of the new auditorium.

Smiling, Adeboye added,

I am not too young to die.

Again, the crowd disapproved with a din.

He later calmed everyone down, saying “okay, it is not now (I’m not dying now),” to which the crowd roared a thunderous “amen.”

Prophet Emmanuel Omale, the general overseer of the Divine Hand of God Prophetic Ministries in Abuja, has given his prophecies for the year 2016.

Speaking at a jam-packed service last week, the prophet called on Nigerians to pray to prevent the violent death of a top Nollywood female star. He warned that if fervent prayers aren’t offered, the star would either die in a deadly road accident, an armed robbery attack or of high blood pressure.

Prophet Omale said that a former governor’s wife in the South-South should pray against bereavement and detection of terminal illness.

Speaking about Nigerian billionaires, the prophet declared that many of them would fall in 2016.

According to him, many of those who made their money through dubious means would end up in jail, while new and younger billionaires would replace them.

On Boko Haram, Omale said the power of the terrorists’ group has been greatly reduced, but a top military boss may die in combat.

The young seer also advised Nigerians to take President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption campaign seriously and added that two newly appointed ministers should be careful about getting involved in a financial scandal that will see them being sacked and jailed.

He noted that two serving senators should pray against scandalous revelations which could lead to their heart attacks.

According to Omale, billions of Naira embezzled from the past government will be returned openly and there will be 17 months of prosperity for Nigerians as oil price improves.

Urging Nigerians to support the government of Buhari, he said:

President Buhari will be the best president the country ever had and he would lay super structure foundation that would lead to economic growth and development for Nigeria.

The prophet assured people that Nigeria would not divide despite the pro-Biafra agitation and noted that the whole issue would be resolved amicably.

OBJ GRADUATES WITH 5,000 STUDENTS

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Nigeria’s former president for 8 years will obtain a Master’s degree in Christian Theology from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). This will happen when Chief Obasanjo graduates with 5,000 students next week.

The former president’s Master’s degree is an MA degree from the School of Arts and Social Sciences at the Abeokuta study center of the NOUN. The 2 lecturers who supervised Chief Obasanjo’s project are Prof Isaac Ayegboyin, Head of Department of Religious Studies, University of Ibadan and Dr. Philip Tachin, lecturer in Systemic Theology Department.

Information had it that all efforts to know the topic of the ex-president’s MA thesis failed as he had finished all his paper work in the 2014/2015 academic session.

Chief Obasanjo’s goal of furthering his study up to PhD level is guaranteed as he has a Master’s degree which will make this possible. The former president registered for his MA in Lagos on Tuesday, September 30, 2014. He himself has vowed to proceed to do his PhD.

The convocation programme which is to hold in Abuja next week Friday 15th and Saturday 16th January will have people from all walks of life in attendance. Some important dignitaries who will grace the event include Adamu Adamu, Nigeria’s Minister of Education and officials from the National Universities Commission (NUC) and close friends of Chief Obasanjo.

BIAFRA PASSPORT DOES NOT EXIST - FG

The controversy behind the issuance of the Biafra passport by the former leader of Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) Chief Ralph Uwazuruike may still linger for some time.

Ohaneze Diaspora, a group made of Igbos in the diaspora at a time observed that the inability of the federal government to thoroughly correct the problems and challenges of marginalization of the Igbos is one of the reasons that has brought up issues like that of the Biafra passport.

Reports from The Telegraph newspaper of Saturday, January 9 revealed that several federal government agencies in charge of issuing important documents like the International Passport have all washed off their hands in anything like an Igbo passport after information made known by the factional and new leader of the MASSOB, Uchenna Madu.

The revelation of Madu is coming after he parted ways with the founder and former leader of the group, Uwazuruike. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its part affirmed that there was nothing like the production and issuing of a United States of Biafra passport.

Mr. Ogbole Amedu-Odeh, a director in the Public Communications division of the foreign ministry while speaking to newsmen on the matter said he does not have knowledge of anything like the distribution of a Biafra passport in the country. He said:

I don’t know anything about any Biafran passport. I am not aware that it exists. But good luck to whoever is using it to travel.

In the same vein, Mr. Ekpedeme King, who is the public relations officer (PRO) of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) revealed that he has never set his eyes on the talked about Igbo passport. He said this so because no one has yet been apprehended at the major airports in connection to the passport being part of the travelling document presented.

DELE MOMODU HITS BACK AT DR OLA BALOGUN

The filmmaker was against the attitude of Davido’s babymama Sophia Momodu and also the role played by her uncle Dele Momodu such that he called for the condemnation of the Momodus.

The senior Momodu has responded to Dr Balogun’s letter condemnation revealing in his statement that there is more to Dr Ola taking side than we may know. Read his statement below:

It is disheartening that while many well-meaning Nigerians have stepped in to intervene in the face-off between music superstar Mr David Adeleke, aka Davido, and the mother of his baby Ms Sophia Momodu, my cousin, a senior citizen and film-maker, Dr Ola Balogun, has chosen to cast aspersions on me for reasons best known to both of us. In a well-circulated comment he made in newspapers and on social media, Wednesday January 6, 2016, Dr Balogun maliciously attacked Sophia and I without caring to find out what led to the present debacle.
I had the highest regards for Dr Balogun and had always responded to his calls and text messages to my London line most times. I wish to apologize to him publicly if I have not been able to attend to his certain demands but it is regrettable that he would retaliate through this vengeful manner. Though I bear the same title of Bashorun with my late mentor Chief Moshood Abiola, I’m just an ordinary journalist of very modest means. Let me assure Dr Balogun that elders like him have brokered peace between the families and by the grace of God we should have good news sooner than later.
Dr Balogun should please bury whatever animosity he has against me and join others in reconciling the families instead of pouring petrol into the conflagration.

SOPHIA GET A JOB AND DON'T TURN DAVIDO TO AN ATM MACHINE - DR OLA BALOGUN

The first generation of Nigerian film makers in addressing Davido baby-mama issue condemned in totality the role played by Ovation magazine boss Dele Momodu. He also charged Sophia Momodu to get a job to support her lifestyle and not turn Davido into ATM.

The letter reads in part:

I was heartbroken to read about what young Mr. Adeleke has been going through at the hands of Mr. and Mrs. Dele Momodu and their neice (or cousin?).
If Davido’s account is true, the activities of the Momodus deserve to be roundly condemned by all right-thinking Nigerians.
Shouldn’t the baby’s interests be paramount? As for the mother of the baby, she should be thoroughly ashamed of herself for having inflicted so much pain and suffering on her child as a result of her alleged drug habits.

Another excerpt for the letter reads:

If I understand rightly, the young lady is able-bodied. Why doesn’t she go and seek gainful employment somewhere, instead of partying all over the place and expecting the father of her child to pick up extravagant bills?
Why must she consider Davido a personal ATM that is there to cough up money on demand at each instant? It is really too bad!

DAVIDO DISCHARGED FROM HOSPITAL

The music star took to his snapchat handle and posted several pictures of him receiving treatments with the caption: “STRESS.”

Davido who was reported to have just returned from a show in Gambia, is currently undergoing medical treatments in an undisclosed hospital in Lagos.

The baby daddy also took to his twitter handle posting a picture of him with the caption:

HOW I INSTALLED RADIO BIAFRA TRANSMITTER ON MTN MAST - SUSPECT

A suspect, David Nwawuisi has narrated how he illegally installed Radio Biafra transmitters on an MTN mast in Ngwo, Enugu state for the sum of N150,000.

The radio station had been used to broadcast messages championing the cause of Biafra and agitation for an independent state. Nnamdi Kanu, the director of Radio Biafra has since been arrested by security operatives in October, 2015.

It was reported that MTN mast were used to house the transmitter f Radio Biafra but it was revealed that a staff of Ericsson, a company managing MTN mast sites carried out the installation.

Nwawuisi, a 29 year old graduate of Biochemistry from the Enugu State University confessed in a statement which he made to Department of State Services (DSS) on July 27, 2015 that he was contacted by one Chidiebere Onwudiwe to seal the deal for the installation.

He said:

I came to know about Chidiebere and Obioma one day the security woman called me to tell me that that they will like to install a radio ( transmitter) on one of my sites at Ngwo in Enugu State and I told them that I don’t know who they are that if they can make out time so that we can see face to face because I don’t know them and that was in May.
So the next day, they called me. I was working in one of my sites at St. Michael Catholic Church Asata in Enugu State. I asked them to come down to that site and that was the place I saw them for the first time and they introduced themselves as Chidiebere and Obioma. They also asked for my name and I said David. They also asked for my native name and I said Chukwugozie and from there Chidiebere started saying that the radio (transmitter) they are asking for my permission to install in my site is to help them educate our people (Igbo) and let them know their brothers and where they come from.
They called me again to remind me of that and that was when I told them ok and we agreed that they are going to be paying N25,000 only per month which they paid six months upfront. N75,000 cash was given to me that day they came for the installation and out of that I gave N5,000 to the security woman. The balance was paid into my account at Ecobank after the First Bank (account) I gave to Obioma failed to accept the payment.
The payment of the balance was done two weeks after the installation of the radio (transmitter). On three different occasions, Chidiebere and Obioma called me to do some maintenance on the radio (transmitter). I gave them access into the site and left and when they finished, the security woman informed me that they are through and I came and locked the site.
The items Chidiebere came (with) were an electronic that looks like a decoder and a DSTV dish which was installed on the fence. The other items were installed inside the MTN site shelter. The equipment has been there for three months and on July 15 the MTN staff went to the site and called me from the site and asked me what the equipment is. The name of the MTN staff is Mr. John Ibekwe. When he was calling, I couldn’t get what he was asking due to the environment because I was driving and when I parked, I called the security woman to ask her and she told me that is the equipment that Chidiebere and Obioma installed that his asking of.
I called back the MTN man to tell him what the equipment is for, that is a Radio Biafra (transmitter) that was installed by Chidiebere and Obioma. I told him that I will like to see him which he asked be to come to Shoprite and I came and after I was taken to the MTN office by the MTN security patrol team. From the office, after telling them how the equipment came about and how I got to know about Chidiebere, I was taken to Enugu DSS office.

Mr. Mohammed Diri, the federal director of public prosecution said that the transmitters were installed for the Indigenous People of Biafra and were smuggled into Nigeria by Kanu.

FIVE ARRESTED OVER PLANS TO KILL GOODLUCK JONATHAN

Five persons alleged to be plotting an attack on the house of former president Goodluck Jonathan in Yenogoa were apprehended in a hotel in Swali area of the Bayelsa state capital.

The Punch reports that, the suspects were caught as they were perfecting strategies to unleash terror in the home of the ex-president.

Names of the suspects, all males, were given as, Asupha Emeka, 34; Ebipre Ebebi, 25; Samuel Joe, 27; Okilo Matthew, 25; and Timiere Matthew, 25. According to the report, the suspects were thugs loyal to a candidate of one of the frontline political parties in the state ahead of Saturday’s election. However, the major reason for the alleged attack on Jonathan is yet to be ascertained, but it was gathered that the incident was part of the measures to create tension.

Confirming the report, a security source, who desired anonymity, said the planned attack on Jonathan’s residence was orchestrated in a manner as to give the impression that the opposition was after the life of Jonathan.

He said:

The planned attack on Jonathan’s house was to give an impression of violence ahead of the supplementary election in the state. What the mastermind intends to achieve through that is what I cannot fathom.
You know this is the time of politics when politicians design all manner of tricks, crisis and strategies to heat up the polity. This is one of those aspects of dangerous politics they are playing.
The ringleader of this dastardly act, we learnt is a member of Jonathan’s party. The whole plot was contrived to give the impression that the opposition is the one responsible.

But on his part, Asinim Butswat, the police public relations officer, Bayelsa state command said their apprehension was based on a tip-off.

Butswat said:

On the January 6, 2016, at about 1500hrs, based on a tip-off, detectives from the Anti-Kidnapping and Anti-Vice unit stormed a hotel premises in Swali community, Yenagoa, and arrested five suspects.
The suspects are Asupha Emeka, Ebipre Ebebi, Samuel Joe, Okilo Matthew and Timiere Matthew.

The police spokesman said the suspects were drawing a plan to launch an attack on a yet-to-be identified location, adding that the suspects were currently undergoing interrogation and that investigation was on-going.

DAVIDO HOSPITALIZED FOLLOWING BABY MAMA DRAMA

The ‘Aye’ singer in an Instagram post on Tuesday revealed that he was about to be discharged from the hospital.

Davido, who hinted about collaboration with rising singer, Humble Smith, however refused to disclose the name of the hospital or ailment he was diagnosed with.

The news of his hospital admission comes after the 23-year-old was accused by Sophia Momodu, his baby mama of kidnapping their seven-month-old daughter, Imade Adeleke.

Since the past week, the news has turned into a full blown scandal with both parties throwing allegations at each other.

While Davido accuses his daughter’s mother of being irresponsible, Sophia Momodu and her uncle, media entrepreneur, Dele Momodu, are saying Davido and his family of trying to use their wealth to take the baby away from her mother.

After revealing an extensive expose on the crisis rocking his relationship with his baby mama, Dele Momodu came out to dismiss the reports but the Omo Baba Olowo crooner, Davido fires back at him.

Dele Momodu took to his Instagram page on Monday night, January 4, posting a picture of Davido’s Sister Ashley carrying his niece in a pool with the caption:

“the newspapers were awash this morning and the social media has been on fire since yesterday.
