Watford have issued a statement, stating clearly that Odion Ighalo, will not be sold “under any circumstances”, as the transfer window opens today. The Super Eagles striker has been in hot form for the Hornets this season, scoring 14 times in the Premier League, as they sit in ninth place.
Ighalo has been linked with moves to Roma and Atletico Madrid this January, but the club say they won’t sell. The 26-year-old has also come out to say he will stay until the summer.
I want to finish the season strongly with Watford and prove that we have a good bunch of players here,he told BBC Sport.
When the focus is on a strong finish, transfer talk will not get to you.
Ighalo has only been outscored by Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy and Everton’s Romelu Lukaku this season, but says he is not interested in those stats.
I haven’t really bothered myself about statistics because I’ve always had my feet on the ground and I never forget where I come from,Ighalo said.
I am just focused on getting better, doing things right on the pitch and being myself on the pitch.
